On the 23 July 2022 the Deben Canoe Club hosted a joint event with our close neighbour the Deben Yacht Club with the aim of the event being able to allow members of the Yacht Club to try their hand at kayaking, and members of the Deben Canoe Club also being able to enjoy a sailing experience to see how they got on with sailing.

The event was well supported with over twenty members of the yacht club having a go at kayaking which was a mixture of adults and children, The adults had kayaks and the children a mixture of open canoes and kayaks. The wind was quite strong and the water slightly bumpy and the children in the kayaks were fine but the children in the open did struggle a bit, but once the three of them got kayaking, right they were well away and able to manoeuvre the canoe quite well.

The conditions were excellent for sailing with a good breeze and the club used three club Argos which had experienced helms Tom, Barry and Iain to take our club members out. The weather was excellent lovely sunshine, and all the participants really enjoyed their time on the water. so a very big thank you to our coaches, Tim and Viv, and also Adrian who provided the on-water coaching.
